Medical Expertise Meets Aesthetic Excellence
Most academies are run by instructors. Ours is owned by practitioners who still treat patients.
Dr. Terrell Swanson brings 15+ years as an acute care specialist, with experience in level one and two trauma centers. A certified expert injector through the American Academy of Facial Esthetics, he specializes in facial anatomy and complex facial repairs.
Recia Swanson started her nursing career in 2008 at a level-one trauma center, managing complex and critical cases. Now a Licensed Esthetician and certified acne specialist, she serves as lead instructor for the Academy, bringing real clinical experience to every lesson.
When you train at New Beauty Company Aesthetics Academy, you're learning from a husband-and-wife team who built a successful medspa practice from the ground up. They know what it takes because they've done it.
Taryn Shelby
LE, LMT - Lead Instructor
Your Hands-On Training Lead
While the Swansons provide medical oversight and business direction, Taryn Shelby leads your day-to-day training.
Taryn holds dual credentials as a Licensed Aesthetician (LE) and Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT). This combination gives her a clinical understanding of skin treatments that single-credential instructors lack.
She built her expertise performing advanced treatments across Northeast Florida before joining the Academy. Every technique she teaches comes from real client experience in local medspas.
Taryn's teaching philosophy centers on real-world readiness. She prepares you for what happens when a client sits in your chair, not just what appears on a certification exam.

Clinical Background
Dr. Terrell brings 15+ years in acute care, working in level one and two trauma centers. As former core faculty physician at University of Florida's Emergency Medicine Residency, he developed deep expertise in facial anatomy and complex facial repairs.
Recia started her nursing career in 2008 at a level-one trauma center, managing complex and critical cases. Her background in emergency medicine informs her understanding of skin healing, contraindications, and patient safety.
Together, they combine medical precision with aesthetic artistry. This unique pairing means students learn from both a physician's understanding of anatomy and a practitioner's hands-on treatment expertise.
Real-World Readiness First
Our approach to aesthetician education centers on one principle: students must be ready for actual client sessions, not just certification exams.
Context-Rich Learning
Every technique is taught with context. You learn not just how to perform a PCA peel, but how to assess whether this specific client is a good candidate. You learn not just dermaplaning blade angles, but how to handle the client who is nervous about blades near their face.
Post-Graduate Mentorship
This real-world emphasis extends beyond graduation through post-graduate mentorship. Taryn remains available to support students as they apply their training in actual treatment settings. Questions don't end at certification.
The New Beauty Company Aesthetics Academy Mission
Florida's 260-hour aesthetician requirement establishes a baseline. It does not prepare professionals for the advanced treatments that drive today's aesthetics market.
New Beauty Company Aesthetics Academy exists to close that gap for Northeast Florida aestheticians.
Our mission is straightforward: deliver the advanced training, certifications, and mentorship that transform licensed aestheticians into medspa-ready professionals. We prepare students for the treatments clients actually request, not just the services covered in basic licensing curricula.
Every component of our Advanced Aesthetics course supports this mission:
Curriculum designed around employer demand, not minimum state requirements
Certifications that signal competency to hiring managers
Hands-on practice with real protocols and products
Post-graduate support that extends beyond the classroom
We believe aesthetician success requires more than a certificate. It requires confidence, competence, and ongoing professional development. New Beauty Company Aesthetics Academy delivers all three.
Part of New Beauty Company Aesthetics
New Beauty Company Aesthetics Academy operates as the educational division of New Beauty Company Aesthetics.
This connection means our training programs are informed by active, ongoing aesthetics practice. The treatments we teach aren't theoretical. They're the same services offered at New Beauty Company Aesthetics locations.
Students benefit from this relationship through:
Curriculum that reflects current industry practices
Exposure to professional-grade products and equipment
Training environment that mirrors real treatment settings
Insight into how successful aesthetics businesses operate
The academy and practice work together to advance the aesthetics profession in Northeast Florida.
